AI Girlfriend App Pricing 2026: 13 Apps Priced Against 30+ Sources

Smartphone face-down on a desk beside coins, a credit card and a receipt, illustrating the real monthly cost of AI girlfriend and AI companion chat app subscriptions.

We priced thirteen of the most-reviewed AI girlfriend apps of 2026 — Candy AI, Replika, Character.AI, Kindroid, Nastia, Nomi, CrushOn AI, DreamGF, Chai, Janitor AI, Muah AI, Talkie, and SpicyChat — against more than 30 independent and vendor sources, then derived the numbers the pricing pages never print: the true monthly cost on an annual plan, the discount that hides behind it, and the cost of each included image.

The single clearest finding: across the seven apps that publish an annual plan, paying yearly cuts the average sticker price by about 40% — from an average of $14.27/mo down to roughly $8.55/mo — though the size of that discount ranges from 17% (SpicyChat) to a remarkable 71% (Replika). The “$12.99” you see first is almost never the number you actually pay.

This is a data study, not an opinion piece. Every figure below carries a source and a fetch date, and every derived figure (effective monthly, percent saved, cost per image) is plain arithmetic you can reproduce. We explain exactly how on our pricing methodology page, and what each number means for a buyer in our scoring rubric. Sticker prices last re-verified 29 June 2026; the original six-app cost-per-use math was priced 14 June 2026.

Best value by category (the 30-second answer)

If you only read one table, read this one. Each row is the cheapest verified option for a specific job, not the lowest sticker overall — because the right question is never “what’s cheapest,” it’s “what’s cheapest that does the thing I want.”

The master pricing table: 13 apps

Here is every platform’s free-tier status, its advertised sticker price, its best annual rate expressed as a true monthly figure, and the one pricing fact that changes the decision. Where a platform’s pricing is genuinely in flux, the table says so rather than pretending a single number is settled. A dash in the annual column means the vendor does not publish a clean annual rate we could verify.

Finding 1: Annual billing is where the real discount lives

The headline price an app shows you is the monthly rate — the most expensive way to pay. The platforms that publish an annual plan reward the yearly commitment far more than most readers expect. Across the seven apps with a verifiable annual rate, the average sticker of $14.27/mo falls to an effective $8.55/mo — about a 40% cut — but the spread is wide.

Replika is the clearest example: its $19.99/mo Pro plan drops to an effective $5.83/mo on the $69.99 annual plan — a 71% saving. Candy AI and DreamGF both land at $5.99/mo on their annual plans (54% off a $12.99 sticker). At the other end, Chai (20%) and SpicyChat (17%) discount far less because their monthly rates are already low or flat.

PlatformMonthly stickerAnnual totalEffective monthlyYou save
Replika Pro$19.99$69.99$5.8371%
Candy AI Premium$12.99$71.88$5.9954%
DreamGF$12.99$71.88$5.9954%
CrushOn Premium$14.99$125.88$10.4930%
Character.AI Plus$9.99$94.99$7.9221%
Chai Premium$13.99$134.99$11.2520%
SpicyChat True Supporter$14.95$149.50$12.4617%
Derived from published tier limits — effective monthly = annual ÷ 12. Replika’s annual is cited at both $69.99 and $79.99 across sources; we use the lower figure and note the variance.
If you already know which app you want, annual billing largely erases the monthly price — so choose on content policy and memory depth, not on sticker.

The practical takeaway: if you already know you want one of these apps, the content policy and memory depth are the durable reasons to choose it — not the monthly price, which annual billing largely erases. We unpack that trade-off in our Replika alternatives guide and the head-to-head Candy AI vs Replika comparison.

Finding 2: The sticker price is a floor, not a ceiling

Pricing audit — real cost vs sticker price. Candy AI advertises a low promotional rate and a $12.99 headline, but its Premium plan only includes about 100 images per month ($0.13 per included image). Once a heavy media user exhausts those, the token system engages and independent reviewers report real monthly spend of $30–$80+. The advertised number is a floor you start from, not a ceiling you stop at. Last priced: 29 June 2026. See our pricing methodology for how we capture this.

This is the single most important pattern in the whole dataset, and it only shows up if you price the usage, not just the subscription. Widening the study to 13 apps confirmed it is not a one-off: at least four of them bill in a way that makes the sticker misleading.

  • Candy AI and DreamGF — the subscription buys a monthly token allowance, and media-heavy use is billed on top. I tracked exactly how fast that meter runs in my three-week Candy AI review.
  • Janitor AI — its $9.99 Pro plan unlocks access, but usable output needs your own paid OpenAI- or OpenRouter-style API key, so your real cost is metered tokens you pay a third party.
  • Talkie — hides the worst surprise of all: its real charge is $14.99 per week (roughly $60/mo), shown only at the App Store payment screen.

The rule of thumb: whenever an app meters tokens, credits, or messages, treat the sticker as the opening bid.

Finding 3: Some prices are genuinely in flux — verify at signup

When two reputable 2026 sources disagree about a platform’s price, that disagreement is itself a finding. Three apps stand out:

  • Nastia — some sources cite a Basic $11.99 / Unlimited $15.99 structure, while others cite $19.99/mo or $129/yr as of April 2026 — a divergence of up to $8/mo on the same product.
  • Chai — review sites quote Premium at $13.99/mo and $134.99/yr, but the official pricing page instead shows an annual plan at $159.99/yr ($13.33/mo) plus a $9.99/week option — the vendor and the reviewers disagree right now.
  • Talkie — cited anywhere from $7.99/mo to $24.99/mo, while the actual App Store charge is a weekly $14.99.

In every case we keep the conflicting numbers and tell you to confirm the tier on the signup screen rather than trusting any single review (including this one). The full Nastia breakdown is in our Nastia vs Replika comparison.

Freshness check — a “lifetime” deal that no longer exists. Several pricing roundups still walk readers through Replika’s $299.99 one-time lifetime plan and its break-even math. As of our 29 June 2026 re-check, multiple 2026 sources confirm that tier was discontinued in July 2025; Replika is now subscription-only (Pro, Ultra, Platinum), and pre-cutoff buyers keep Pro-level access only. For the record, the historical break-even was $299.99 ÷ $69.99/yr ≈ 4.3 years versus the annual plan — but it is no longer a choice you can make. If a guide is still recommending it, the guide is stale. Verified 29 June 2026.

Finding 4: The cheapest path to each capability

“Cheapest app” is the wrong question. The right one is “cheapest app that does the specific thing I want.” Priced that way, the winners change per capability:

What you actually wantCheapest verified pathWhy
Cheapest paid entry of any kindSpicyChat — $4.95/mo“Get A Taste” tier; the free tier already allows mature content, so most users never need to pay at all.

Capability-matched pricing derived from the 29 June 2026 dataset. “Cheapest path” reflects the lowest verified tier that delivers the named capability, not the lowest sticker overall.

The most expensive sticker tier we priced anywhere in the set was Talkie at roughly $60/mo once you convert its $14.99 weekly charge — a useful reminder that the headline you see and the number that hits your card can be 4× apart. What we deliberately did not price

We hold a hard rule: we never publish a number we didn’t measure or verify. Pricing is publicly verifiable, so it’s here. Several things buyers care about are behavioural — they need a paid account used over a full month — so they are deliberately absent from this study rather than estimated:

  • Response latency (timed live sessions per platform)
  • 30-day memory retention accuracy (seeded in week one, recalled in weeks three and four)
  • Photo-quality and facial-consistency scoring (at least 20 generations per platform, graded)
  • Personality consistency across 100+ messages

When a behavioural axis is measured, it appears in the relevant review with the test window and date attached — never as a guess. If you ever see a figure on this site without a source or a test date behind it, treat it as a bug and tell us. That is the whole point of publishing the methodology alongside the data.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI girlfriend app actually cost per month in 2026?

Across our 13-app dataset, sticker prices run from about $4.95 to $24.99/mo, but the price you actually pay depends entirely on how you’re billed. On annual billing, the seven apps that offer it average roughly $8.55/mo (about 40% below their monthly stickers). On token-metered apps like Candy AI or DreamGF, heavy media use can push real cost to $30–$80+/mo, and Talkie’s weekly billing works out to around $60/mo. There is no single number — it depends on billing cadence and how much media you generate. You can also check our ai girlfriend review honest article for more context.

Which AI girlfriend app is the cheapest overall?

The cheapest paid entry in our data is SpicyChat at $4.95/mo, and its free tier already allows mature content — so many users never pay at all. Character.AI also has a generous free tier, but it filters out NSFW content entirely. If you want the lowest real annual cost for a full-featured plan, Replika Pro at an effective $5.83/mo on the year is hard to beat.

Is the annual plan worth it?

For the apps that publish one, usually yes — it is the single biggest lever on price, though the size of the discount varies a lot. Replika Pro drops 71% (from $19.99 to an effective $5.83/mo) and Candy AI and DreamGF each drop 54% (to $5.99/mo), while Chai (20%) and SpicyChat (17%) save far less. If you already know you want the app, annual billing is where the real discount lives. See also: our best free ai girlfriend nsfw article.

Which AI girlfriend app is cheapest for NSFW chat?

For a paid plan, Nomi has the lowest entry point to NSFW-capable chat at about $8.33/mo on its lower tier. For free, SpicyChat permits mature content on its no-cost tier. Character.AI, despite a low $9.99 sticker, offers no mature/NSFW tier at any price — so its cheap price buys a filtered product. Nastia, Kindroid, Muah AI, CrushOn and Janitor AI also permit mature content but start higher or meter usage.

Does Replika still offer a lifetime plan?

No. Replika’s one-time lifetime subscription (last priced at $299.99) was discontinued in July 2025. The current lineup is subscription-only — Pro, Ultra, and Platinum — and users who bought lifetime before the cutoff retain Pro-level access only. Any 2026 guide still recommending the lifetime deal is out of date.

Why do different sites quote different prices for the same app?

Usually because of promotional “starting at” pricing, recent tier renames, regional differences, or weekly-vs-monthly billing. Nastia, Chai, and Talkie are the clearest cases in our data — sources disagree by several dollars a month, and in Talkie’s case the real App Store price is weekly. We keep the conflicting figures and recommend confirming the tier on the signup screen rather than trusting any single review. For more detail, see our AI girlfriend rankings.
